Note: The following Privacy Notice applies to events organized by The World Bank. The World Bank means,
collectively, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), and the International
Development Association (IDA) (together the “World Bank” or “Bank”, “we” or “us”).
This Privacy Notice is under regular review and may be updated periodically to reflect the applicable rules
and policies of the World Bank Group regarding data privacy and security.

it by establishing and complying with the following Privacy Notice which adheres to the core privacy
principles set forth in the Personal Data Privacy
Policy and Directive of World Bank Group Institutions. This
Privacy Notice applies to the personal data The World Bank collects and handles for the purposes of (i)
Registering for its events; (ii) Participating in its events; (iii) Engaging with its activities. Engaging with
World Bank activities may include links to third-party websites and web applications associated with the
delivery of World Bank activities, including event registration services and event attendance services. For
the purposes of this Privacy Notice, “personal data” means any information relating to an identified or
identifiable individual.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information You Provide to World Bank
World Bank collects Personal Data from you directly, including the information you enter during the
registration or participation in our events, and communications activities (e.g., annual report, website and
its social media channels, blog, and newsletter).
Information We Collect by Automated Means
We obtain certain Personal Data by automated means when you visit this site, such as the IP address of
the device you use to connect to the Internet and the pages accessed. By collecting this information, we
learn how to best tailor the site to our visitors. We collect this information through various means,
including “cookies” and “web beacons”.
Cookies and Web Beacons
Like many websites, this website use “cookies” and “web beacons”. Cookies are bits of text that are placed
on your computer’s hard drive when you visit certain websites. A “web beacon,” also known as an Internet
tag, pixel tag or clear GIF, links web pages to web servers and their cookies and may be used to transmit
information collected through cookies back to a web server. Through these automated collection
methods, we obtain “clickstream data,” which is a log of content on which a visitor clicks while browsing

INFORMATION WE SHARE
World Bank does not sell or otherwise disclose Personal Data collected as set out above, except as
described in this Privacy Notice, with third-parties we collaborate with in organizing our events.
Information may be shared with third-party service providers who perform services for World Bank (i.e.,
registration or virtual event hosting, event management vendors, hotels, various transportation
companies and travel agencies). These service providers are not authorized by us to use or disclose
Personal Data, except as necessary to perform services for us. World Bank requires its service providers
to appropriately safeguard the privacy and security of personal data they process on its behalf. adheres
to the World Bank Procedure on Personal Data Privacy:
i. If the third party is a vendor, we review the Vendor’s privacy policy and privacy compliance
program or equivalent, inclusion of privacy contract clauses in the Bank contract and monitoring
of compliance therewith throughout the contract lifecycle pursuant to the World Bank Group
Procedure Vendor Risk Management.
ii. If the third part is a not a Vendor, we review the third party’s internal policies, obtaining
appropriate agreement on privacy measures and monitoring of compliance therewith throughout
the lifecycle of engagement with the Third Party.
We may also share your personal data with other third parties which collaborate with us in organizing our
events. Third parties refer to any other party that is not part of the World Bank Group. The World Bank is
part of the World Bank Group and the consent in this form to the World Bank extends to the World Bank
Group as the legal entity conducting this data collection and handling for the purposes stated in this
notice.
We also may disclose Personal Data about you (i) if obliged to do so under international law or by
requirements of applicable World Bank Group policies and procedures, (ii) for the purposes of, or in
connection with, any legal proceedings, or otherwise for the purposes of establishing, exercising or
defending any legal right; or (iii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent
physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity.
PURPOSES AND TYPES OF PROCESSING
In providing excellent knowledge-sharing experience to you and supporting administrative tasks, The
World Bank and third parties working with us may Process your Personal Data in the following ways:
• To create and manage your personal account for the event you registered for;
• To send you email notifications and updates about the event you registered for;
• To send you a formal invitation letter, if applicable;
• To provide you with agenda, knowledge resources (e.g., knowledge products, video links) and other
administrative documents related to our events.

• To make logistical arrangement, if applicable;

To contact you occasionally to invite you to share your opinions and experiences with regard to our
events.
• To use your information in an aggregated format and anonymous format to evaluate and improve
our events and activities.
• To contact you occasionally in order to invite you to join our future events (with your consent).
• To publish participants’ opinions and experiences on our website, our SNS accounts (i.e. Facebook,
Twitter, and LinkedIn), our Annual Reports, our newsletters, World Bank Feature Stories, World Bank
blogs, and other World Bank reports.
• To publish event-related photos and videos on our website, our SNS accounts (i.e. Facebook, Twitter,
and LinkedIn), our Annual Reports, our newsletters, World Bank Feature Stories, World Bank blogs,
and other World Bank reports (with your consent).
HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
We maintain appropriate technical and organizational safeguards against unauthorized processing of
personal data and against accidental loss, destruction, or damage according to the World Bank
information security standards.
HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION
Your Personal Data will be kept for two years for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice and in
accordance with applicable records retention and disposition schedules. The only exception will be for
the purposes of contacting you to join our future events in case you have consented to that.
REQUEST AND REVIEW
In accordance with the World Bank Group Policy Personal Data Privacy and pursuant to Personal Data
Privacy Request and Review Mechanisms, you may request information regarding the processing of your
