INDIVIDUALSEWAGETREATMENTSYSTEM‐Afacilityservingoneormoreparcelsoflandorresidential
households,oraprivate,commercialorinstitutionalfacilitythattreatssewageorotherliquidwastesfor
dischargesintogroundwaterofNewYor kState,exceptwhereapermitforsuchafacilityisrequiredunder
the
applicableprovisionofArticle17oftheEnvironmentalConservationLaw(ECL).
JUNK–Anyscrap,waste,reclaimablematerial,ordebris,whetherornotstored,forsaleorintheprocess
of being dismantled, destroyed, processed, salvaged, stored, baled, disposed of, or for other use or
disposition.
JUNK VEHICLE –
Any rusted, wrecked, damaged, dismantled or partially dismantled, inoperative, or
abandonedmotorvehiclenolongerintendedorinconditionforlegaluseonthepublichighways.
JUNKYARD‐Anareaoflandwithorwithoutbuildingsused fororoccupiedbythestorage,keeping,or
abandonmentofjunk,includingscrap
metalsorotherscrap,usedorsalvaged buildingmaterials,orthe
dismantling, storage, stockpiling, demolition, or abandonment of automobiles or other vehicles or
machineryorparts thereof,orafacilitywhichmeetsthedefinitionof‘junkyard’asdefinedintheNew
YorkStateGeneralMunicipalLaw.
KENNEL,BOARDINGFACILITY
ORANIMALCAMP‐Anystructure,facility,andgroundsoperatedassitefor
theshort‐orlong‐termkeepingofdogs,cats,domesticorfarmanimals,asthosetermsaredefinedinthe
NYSAgricultureandMarketsLaw.Nomorethan25dogsshallbekeptinanykenneloranimalcamp
as
pertheUseTable.Thenumberofdogsinadogbreedingfacilityshallnotbesubjecttothismaximum.
LAND DISTURBING OR DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY‐A change of the land surface, including removing
vegetativecover,excavating,filling,grading,creatingimpermeablesurfaces,andtheconstructionofany
structure,that
significantlychangesthelandorvegetation.Thisincludesbutisnotlimitedtogradingand
clearingtoconstructahouseorcommercialstructure,anewroadordriveway,afoundation,oraseptic
system.

andthatrequiresa
MiningPermitfromtheNYSDepartmentofEnvironmentalConservation.
LIBRARY‐A structure or use where literary and artistic materials, such as computer access, books,
periodicals,newspapers,p a mphlets,prints,records,andtapes,arekeptforreading, reference,orlending,
includingbutnotlimitedtothedefinitionof
suchtermassetforthintheNYSEducationLaw.
LIGHTINDUSTRIALACTIVITY–Auseinwhichaproductismanufacturedbutthemanufacturingprocess
andfacilityha veminimalimpacton theproperty wherethemanufacturingtakesplaceandalmostnone
onadjacentproperties,withqualitiesincluding:
*Creation
ofnoise,vibration,light,odor,dust,smoke,orotherairpollutionnoticeableatorbeyond
thepropertyline;
*Nochangetothecharacterofthesurroundingneighborhood;
*Adequatescreeningofoutsidestorageofgoods,materials,orequipment;
*Signslimitedinsize;
*Nochemical,metal,orhazardouswaste,orpotentialcontamination
ofsurfaceorgroundwater;
*Adherencetoallapplicablecommercialdesignandotherstandards citedinthiszoninglaw.
