The “graduate” category includes students who have earned a basic high school diploma,
Alternate Diploma (for students with a signicant cognitive disability as dened in Board
Rule R277-705-2), or an adult education high school diploma by September 30 following the
end of their cohort school year. “Continuing students” are students who have been allowed
to continue attending school beyond their senior year, or those who transferred to higher
education or the Utah System of Technological Colleges (formerly UCAT) without rst
receiving a high school diploma. Students considered “other completers” include those who
completed the General Education Development test (GED) or a certicate of completion; or
are a student with a disability who participated in the Utah Alternate Assessment (UAA).
The “dropout” category includes students who have not completed graduation requirements,
such as those who have withdrawn, dropped out, or have been expelled.
2023 Graduation Rates
The graduation rate for the 2023 cohort is 88.3%. This is a 0.06% increase from the 2022
cohort’s graduation rate of 88.2%. The White student group had the highest rate for 2023
with 90.67% meeting graduation requirements. The Pacic Islander student group had the
largest gain in graduation rate from 2022 to 2023 by going from 80.05% of students graduating
to 82.31%. Year-to-year changes for all reported student groups can be seen in Table 1. For
