Electronic Payment Options For Tax Payments
The Colorado Department of Revenue requires all organizations ling fuel, cigarette or tobacco taxes, retail marijuana
sales and excise taxes, withholding of income from an oil and gas interest, employers with annual wage withholding
liabilities greater than $50,000.00, and businesses with annual state sales tax liabilities greater than $75,000.00 to pay
through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Other individuals and organizations may also choose to pay electronically.
Electronic payments offer you a number of benefits:
The cost and time to write checks is eliminated.
You know exactly when your account will be debited.
You are assured that the funds are received on time, every time.
Certain tax types will automatically generate a tax return when the tax payment is made. Refer to the DR 5785 for the
listing of these taxes notated with an *.
You must file a complete sales and use tax return at the same time you make a sales/use tax payment.
All of the electronic payment options listed meet the statutory requirements for paying electronically.
Electronic Payment Options and Information:
Revenue Online Direct Debit
(Account Login Required)
This option allows for: Making a single payment or scheduling future payments.
Service fees: Free
Process or restrictions: Once you are logged in, select “Make a Payment” under the tax type needing payment. Not
all DOR tax types available at this time.
Effective date and processing timeline: Effective on the date initiated, or a future date if scheduled regardless of
processing time. Funds will typically transfer in 3-5 business days. It may take up to 8 business days when using a
bank account for the first time.
Debit or Credit Card
This option allows for: A debit or credit card transaction made through our third party vendor.
Service fees: An additional $0.75 plus 2.25% of the payment amount
Process or restrictions: Click on the link to enter your payment now.
Effective date and processing timeline: Effective on the date initiated. Funds will transfer in 3-5 business days.
E-Check
This option allows for: An E-Check transaction made through our third party vendor.
Service fees:
Cryptocurrency
This option allows for: Cryptocurrency payments through the PayPal Cryptocurrencies Hub
Service fees: An additional $1.00 plus 1.83% of the payment amount.
Process or restrictions:

Only PayPal Personal accounts can pay using cryptocurrency. PayPal Business accounts cannot pay using
cryptocurrency at this time.

You must have the entire value of your invoice in a single cryptocurrency in your PayPal Cryptocurrencies Hub.

Fees such as PayPal purchase fees, when buying cryptocurrency through PayPal, or miner/gas fees, when
transferring cryptocurrency from an external wallet to your PayPal Cryptocurrencies Hub, may apply.

Transfers from external wallet to PayPal wallet must be done via PayPal mobile app.

ACH Credit
This option allows for: When you want to process an electronic payment from your bank account to the
Department of Revenue.
Service fees: Contact your financial institution
Process or restrictions: Attached is information about the Departments requirements. Contact your financial
institution if you have questions.
Effective date and processing timeline: Contact your financial institution.
Third party payments/garnishment instructions can be requested. Please email your request to

Cash or Check or Money Order
This option allows for: When you do not want to pay online.
Process or restrictions: Remit the check or money order with the payment voucher sent with your bill or with the
form you are intending to pay. Retain a copy of the check or money order for your records and tracking purposes.
Walk-in customers who want to pay in cash. Cash payments are only accepted at the Cashier’s ofce at 1881 Pierce
Street in Lakewood. Do NOT send cash through the mail. Bring the payment voucher sent with your bill or the form you
are intending to pay.
Effective date and processing timeline: Mailed payments are effective on the postmark date. It can take up to 10
business days to receive and process a mailed check or money order.
International Payment
This option allows for: Foreign Entities to remit wire transfers to The State of Colorado, DOR.
Service fees: Contact your financial institution.
Process or restrictions: NOT for payments originating in the United States. Click on the link for information about
the Departments requirements. Contact your financial institution if you have questions.
