To the Editor:
On behalf of the many concerned residents in the district I would urge both [Congressional/Senate] candidates to
focus on the expensive problem of homelessness in their campaigns. Studies have shown that for the most
vulnerable homeless people it is a far more cost-effective use of taxpayer dollars to offer them supportive housing,
than to have them languish in a cycle of emergency systems, such as emergency rooms, detox centers and jails.
We would like to sit down with the candidates to speak more about these cost-effective and humanitarian measures,
or possibly give them a tour of a supportive housing development so they could see first-hand the innovative work
being done to help the lives of their fellow residents of the [state/district.]
