athenaOne device integrations
Updated April 2024
We offer free, seamless athenaOne integrations with medical and non-medical devices that are integral to your organization's
success, and we provide an ecosystem of additional paid integration options through partnerships with leading device manufacturers
and aggregators.
Below is a comprehensive list of devices that integrate with athenaOne, either directly through athenaOne Device Manager (“ADM”,
included with athenaOne), in collaboration with our Marketplace partners, or using HL7 interfaces with select third-party vendors. If
you have questions or requests for new integrations, please contact your Customer Success Manager or submit suggestions for new
integrations on the Success Community.
The following partners have also offered to integrate devices within the specific categories below upon request. You can contact a
partner directly using the “Contact Partner” link on that partner’s page in the Marketplace.
Mobius: Any Bluetooth LE-enabled device.
Relaymed: Any lab device.
Note: All device integrations noted as “ADM” are available out-of-the-box with athenaOne, and only compatible with Windows OS. All
device integrations with an asterisk (*) are available through a Marketplace partner or other third-party vendor; partner details are
indicated in parentheses. All devices in red have been discontinued or are no longer supported by the manufacturer, but existing
athenaOne integrations with these devices are still supported.

Scanning
Barcode and vaccine scanning
Users can scan vaccine barcodes from within a vaccine order using any barcode and vaccine scanner that support the
following functions:
2D Symbologies supporting and configured for GS1 Data Matrix scanning for healthcare
Vaccine package barcodes are not configured to support retail slot scanners, laser scanners, 1D, or linear array imagers
Clinical document scanning
The clinical document scanning module of athenaOne Device Manager enables users to initiate scan of documents directly from
the patient chart, automatically uploading the image file from a connected scanner. To launch clinical document scanning, click
“Add document” from the patient actions menu or from the hamburger menu in a patient’s chart. To use this feature, you must
have the clinical document scanning module of athenaOne Device Manager installed and have a supported scanner connected to
your device:
Any TWAIN-compliant desktop scanner (via ADM)
Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners (via ADM)
Note: The clinical document scanning module does not support scans of ID cards or insurance cards. The next section covers how
you can scan ID and Insurance cards in athenaOne
ID Card scanning
Card scanning in athenaOne is launched using the “Add card image” link for the Driver’s License, Insurance, or Prescription fields
of the patient Quickview. Similarly, document scanning is launched from the Import Document page, accessible under the Patient
section of the Main Menu. Both workflows use a file browser where you can search for and upload an image file from your
computer.
You can browse and upload scanned documents and images into athenaOne using your existing hardware and software; visit the
Success Community for best-practice configurations and guidelines. Alternatively, you can use specialized scanning applications that
upload documents to athenaOne via API (instead of using the image uploader in athenaOne). For this method, supported scanners
and their associated scanning applications are indicated below:
Ambir
nScan 690gt duplex card (AmbirScan with ADM)
ImageScan Pro 687 duplex card scanner (AmbirScan with ADM)
ImageScan Pro DS490i duplex document scanner (AmbirScan with ADM)

ImageScan Pro 340u 40ppm high speed ADF document and card scanner(AmbirScan with ADM)

Inuvio
EcoScan i4d* (Inuvio PatientCollector via API; Inuvio ScanSharp with ADM)
EcoScan i6d* (Inuvio PatientCollector via API; Inuvio ScanSharp with ADM)
Panasonic KV-S1026C-MKII Document Scanner* (Inuvio PatientCollector via API; Inuvio ScanSharp with ADM)
Note: The image uploader functionality that is required for document and card scanning is packaged with athenaOne Device
Manager; it is seamlessly available for all practices and doesn’t appear on the athenaOnr Device Management page.
Scanning to athenaOne via smartphone
As an alternative to the above card and document scanners, the athenaCapture mobile app (for iOS and Android) and athenaOne
mobile app (for iOS) can be used to take and upload pictures as documents to athenaOne using a smartphone. The Mobius Clinic
iOS app similarly offers capture and upload of images to the patient chart using an iPhone camera, in addition to document
upload as a templated form for automatic insertion of patient demographic information into specified fields in athenaOne.
