REQUIREMENTS FOR A SCHENGEN VISA
= not longer than 90 days
Applications are treated within 05 working days but it might take up to 15 working days in special cases and for
certain nationalities
ALL requested documents must be included in the file. An incomplete application may be rejected.
Applicants should apply at the Embassy of their main destination (meaning where they are staying longest).
Visa fee is due upon introduction of the application and is the equivalent of 80at the current exchange rate;
Children between 6-12 pay 40 - Fees are non-refundable
ALL FEES HAVE TO BE PAID IN CASH AND IN UGANDAN SHILLINGS
ALL APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:
1. One application form duly completed and signed by the applicant
2. Two identical recent (less than 6 months) color Schengen passport size photographs
3. A passport valid for at least 3 months upon return to the country of origin, and with a maximum validity of 10 years,
containing at least 2 empty pages
4. Copy of passport bio-data page and
5. For non-Ugandan citizens: copy of resident permit (dependent pass, work permit or student pass)
6. Travel Health Insurance covering possible medical expenses throughout the whole stay in the Schengen area (the
insurance, with a minimum cover of €30,000, must be valid for all Schengen countries)
7. Airline reservation
8. Hotel/accommodation booking or invitation letter/certificate (depending on the nature of the trip)
9. Proof of employment or enrolment as a student in Uganda and proof of ownership for business owners (“Certificate of
Incorporation”, “Trading Licence”, URA tax clearance, form 7…)
10. Proof of regular income (Last 3 months personal bank statement and last 3 pay slips)

VISA WITH INVITATION
(PRIVATE / FAMILY VISITS)
1. Letter of introduction from employer,
organization, school or institution, granting
the leave
2. “Attestation d’accueil” (i.e : proof of
accommodation issued by the city hall of the
host, for permanent residents only) or
Invitation letter from the host stating at which
address the applicant is going to stay + the
nature of the relationship + purpose of the
visit
3. Copy of the ID of host + proof of regular
income of host (last 3 months pay slip)
4. In case of family visit: relevant documents to
prove the family relationship
5. If applicable, marriage certificate, stamped by
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
6. For minor children, NIRA birth certificate
stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
If not travelling with both parents:

Please be advised that submitting all required documents is no guarantee that the visa will be granted.
A visa does not necessarily guarantee access to the Schengen territory: the final decision rests with the
Immigration Office at the border. The permission to enter the Schengen territory may depend on the presentation
of the original invitation letter, “attestation d’accueil” (proof of accommodation by the city hall), your financial
means and the travel health insurance.
