CHECKLIST FOR
VISITOR VISA: General (Applying from Australia)
You can apply for your visa online. You can access our online visa application service through our website
www.immigration.govt.nz.
Alternatively, you can lodge your application at the New Zealand Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Sydney.
For more information about the VAC visit www.ttsnzvisa.com. Application forms are available from our
website: www.immigration.govt.nz/forms.
It is important you provide all the relevant information requested below to assist us in processing your
application promptly. Immigration New Zealand reserves the right to request additional information in the
course of assessing an application and to retain information and documents on file.
If you provide false or misleading information your application may be declined.
Note: Holders of a current Australian Permanent Residence Visa or a current Australian Resident’s Return
visa do not require a visa for travel to New Zealand.
Who can be included in an application?

• A couple
Parent(s) with dependent children under 20 applying at the same time for the same duration can apply
together on one application form.
NOTE: Supporting documents not written in English must be accompanied by a certified translation.

TTS Service Fee (for paper applications):
Visit www.ttsnzvisa.com to determine the correct Service fee. If paying by
credit card and submitting your application by post/courier please complete,
sign and include with your application, the Credit Card Authorisation Form for
the deduction of the VAC Service Fee and Courier Fee (if applicable).

PERSONAL DOCUMENTS
A current Passport (original)
2 recent passport sized photos of passport quality
A PDF copy of your current Visa status letter from the Australian Department
of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP)
If you hold an Australian Bridging Visa, please provide recent correspondence
from DIBP outlining on what basis your Bridging Visa was issued
A written chronology of your immigration history in Australia including a list
of all visas applied for, the category it was lodged under and the visa outcome
Ensure question B8 of the form includes employment history for the past 5
years
FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS
Evidence of your ability to fund your stay in New Zealand, and your outward
travel from New Zealand such as:
• A completed Sponsorship Form for Temporary Entry (INZ 1025); or
• Bank deposit books showing a saving history
• Bank statements or payslips for the previous 6 months
• Credit card statements and limits
• Other evidence of funds or assets
EMPLOYMENT DOCUMENTS
If you are employed, a letter from your employer stating:
• Your position and salary
• The length of your employment
• Your leave approval
• Name and contact details of your employer
If you own your own company, we require the following:
• Statement about the business scope and the number of employees
• Recent business tax returns with income statement
• Recent bank documents showing daily business transactions
Valid business license or business registration
If you are intending to do a short course of study in New Zealand you should
provide:
- Offer of place and receipt of payment either original or direct fax/email
confirmation to Immigration New Zealand from the New Zealand
educational provider
- A guarantee of accommodation from either the educational provider, or
evidence from people who prepare and are able to provide the
accommodation.

CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS
If you are coming to New Zealand for 24 months or longer you must provide
police certificates as evidence of your good character. See how to obtain a
Police Certificate for information on what to do.
MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
If you intend to be in New Zealand for more than six months but less than one
year, you must provide a completed Chest X-ray Certificate (INZ 1096).
If you intend to be in New Zealand for more than one year, you must provide a
completed Medical (INZ 1007) and Chest X-ray Certificate (INZ 1096).
Note: All medical certificates must be completed by an INZ appointed panel
doctor: www.immigration.govt.nz/paneldoctors
