11. TRANSIT VISA APPLICATION PROCESS
If you are NOT going to leave the international area during your layover, you do NOT need a visa.
If otherwise applies and the transiting requires you to go through the customs and passport
control, you may obtain an e-visa on www.evisa.gov.tr.
If you are NOT eligible for e-visa, you can apply for a transit visa at the nearest Turkish mission to
your residence.
Required documents application:
1. National passport or official travel document
a) with an expiration date at least 60 days beyond the last day of your intended stay.
b) with a blank page to affix the visa.
2. The application form
3. Original and the copy of your green card or your valid US visa. (for NON-US applicants
only)
• B1/B2 visa holders may be subject to further processing which may delay the visa
issuance.
• If you do not hold either a green card or a valid US visa, you must bring
documentation of your residence in the US.
4. One recent passport photo - size (2” x 2”)
5. Proof of travel health/accident insurance, valid through duration of stay, including:
a) minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros or equivalent USD
b) transfer of the patient to nearest healthcare facility or residency address after discharge
and transfer of body in case of death,
6. Non-refundable visa fee
• Visa fee can only be paid in cash or money order payable to the Turkish Consulate
General in NY. Debit, credit and personal checks are not accepted.
Single transit visa fee: 60.00 USD
Double transit visa fee: 120.00 USD
7. Complete travel itinerary with proof of transport to final destination
8. Visa or residence permit of country of final destination
9. Vehicle license information if your mean of travel is by car
10. Last 6 months bank account statements.
Optional:
11. A pre-paid envelope (mail carrier of your choice) if you would like your visa-issued
passport to be returned by mail. (Turkish Consulate General in NY is not responsible for any
delivery issues)
Important notes:
• It is strongly advised for applicants to apply at least one month prior to their intended trip.
• In individual cases, the applicant may be required to provide additional documents which
may delay the visa issuance.
• Turkish Consulate in New York cannot expedite a visa application.
• Please do not finalize your travel arrangements until you are notified about the outcome of
your visa application.
